Connect Africa pt.1
Connect Africa pt.1
so... FINALLY... let me “introduce” you to some of the gang of Connect Africa... the great projects they are doing... and who’s expertise i was fortunate to be exposed to and learn from...

the HUB...
C.A.’s main training, resource and building center... about 15 miles north of Kampala... comprising 20 acres of land.
the main building... conference area, dorm and office.
in construction... the founders of C.A.’s new house. ... much more productive (if that’s even possible!) to live on sight.
SOME of the critters around the compound/farm.
Connect Africa also has [at this writing] three more CARC’s (Connect Africa Resource Centers) spread out north reaching areas in mid and norther Uganda... with the furthest from the HUB being less than 20 miles from the Sudan boarder.
they are run by local staff... who train and construct, using people from their area, so to equip and disperse the need technologies to many different counties in their regions.
CARC - Kigumba... mid(ish) Uganda.
CARC - Opit
near the city of Gulu
CARC - Atiak 30 km south of Sudan
Connect Africa has many ongoing, found recourses, sustainable, projects running all the time...
these are the five i was most exposed to...
Bio-Sand Water Filters
Rainwater Harvesting
Eco-Sand Toilets
Rocket Stoves
ISSB (Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks)
BIO-SAND WATER FILTERS
Bio-Sand Water Filters are the main tech that C.A. is producing at present.
Bio-Sand Water Filters molds and cast filters in process.
common water sources
this is what it’s all about... EVERYWHERE... water... CLEAN water!
“A single filter can produce 75 liters per day, or enough clean water for four families.”
training at the HUB.... and other CARC’S... both academic and learning-by-doing!
getting the filters to the peps is not always as easy a “road” as we are sometimes told... ;-)
the molding process.... my buddy, and trainer, Stephen hard at work!
everybody getting in on the act!
my other pals... Francis and Dennis crankin’ ‘em out!
has been a GREAT learning experience for me...
still more to learn... but a wonderful... AND fun... start.
on to the other tech’s tomorrow...
